Meet the Team

Brooke Waldron

Lead Teacher, Team Lead

Brooke Waldron

Brooke Waldron knew that she would work with kids from a young age. She is very passionate about teaching to each individual child. She has been teaching for 12 years using the Montessori philosophy and uses this method in her home as well as school. Brooke is certified in NAMC Upper Elementary and also holds certification in Lindamood Bell Dyslexia Training. During the summer Brooke works with students with Down Syndrome and Autism. Brooke has toured the Acton Academy model in Austin, Texas and has spent a summer training under Kaylee Reid who is known for her expertise in Project Based Learning. She was able to implement this training in a private school that she helped start. During her time at Idea Academy, Brooke organized week-long educational trips for her class to Yellowstone and Catalina Island Marine Institute. She facilitated and supported  her students in raising their own money for these trips. She is very excited to be part of Ignite and can’t wait to start the new year!

As a junior high teacher, Miss Dawn is excited to focus on student self-government and advocacy, being the student’s “guide”, and teaching to the student rather than the curriculum.

Nathan Michael

Lead Teacher
(Math/Social Studies)

Nathan Michael

Nate Michael knew that he wanted to do some sort of teaching since he first taught at a Scout camp during his teenage years. He is a firm believer in teaching to each child’s needs and making learning accessible to all levels of learning. Nate graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s in Latin American Studies. He began teaching as a substitute teacher and eventually became a teaching assistant for upper elementary before deciding to teach middle school students, which he absolutely loves! He wants all students to have a love for learning and focus on having a growth mindset by the time they leave his classroom. Nate is an avid outdoorsman who loves to spend his free time hiking, camping, kayaking, and backpacking. He also loves to play soccer, video games, and read.

Above all else, we love kids. Their individuality, their abilities, their passions. Children are amazing people and we consider ourselves lucky to work with them every day.
