Abby Peterson

This is Abby's second year at Ignite and she is thrilled to work in this beautiful school and truly loves spending time with our students. Abby has a passion for teaching and watching children fall in love with learning. She believes that each child has unlimited potential and admires how Ignite allows her as a teacher to support students in their journey to success. She is excited to not only watch our students learn scholastically but also advance as they learn how to navigate relationships and exercise real-world skills.She loves this job because she gets to learn something new every day along with our students. When she is not teaching, Abby is often spending time with her husband, baking, playing games, or watching a good movie. Cheers to this year's journey!

Hannah Macfarlane

Hannah Mafarlane

Hannah Macfarlane has lived Utah her entire life and cannot imagine living anywhere besides this wonderful place! She has had the pleasure of working with kids of all ages-whether that be in an afterschool program, summer camp, elementary school, preschool, and Kindergarten Prep! Hannah originally went to school to become a Master Esthetician. While working toward her certification, she worked at an elementary school and shortly after graduating, realized her true passion was working with kids! She loves being a part of their adventures in learning and growing! There is something so incredible about them and it is so fulfilling to her to be part of this. She has been married to her sweet husband since April 2018 and we love going to movies, concerts, camping, and being together!

Stephanie Chavez

Stephanie Chavez

Stephanie is beyond thrilled to be a part of the Ignite family and feels lucky to be able to work where 3 of her kids also attend school. She has had experience working with kids with special needs in the Provo school district as a teaching assistant, has helped oversee a recreational therapy department at a long term care facility for severely disabled kids, and has studied respiratory therapy. Prior to accepting this position, she has been a stay at home mom. Now that three out of four of her kids are in school full time she is happy to return to work. Stephanie loves horseback riding on her 2 horses, spending time with friends and family, traveling, spending time outdoors, watching sports, eating yummy food, and home decorating. She can't wait to make this year a great one, and many more after too.

Samantha Hotton

Sammy has lived in Utah her entire life and doesn't ever want to leave! She has loved being part of the Ignite team and its welcoming community. She has always had a love for children and cannot wait to help them progress and learn. She enjoys seeing them celebrate success and loves to encourage them to keep going. She really wants the students to feel welcome and loved by their classmates and teachers! When she isn’t working, she loves to spend time with her family and friends, wherever it may be! She also enjoys drives, hammocking, taking naps, and baking.

Elise Staker

Elise Staker

Elise has been with Ignite since its opening year in 2018 and couldn't imagine a better place to be. She has always loved learning and has worked with children from a young age. When she learned about Ignite and its unique approach to education, she decided to switch paths and pursue a bachelor's degree in elementary education at Western Governor's University. Elise prioritizes making students feel welcome in the classroom despite any challenges or differences and finds value in encouraging mindfulness and curiosity in every child. Outside of teaching, she loves to read, spend time outdoors, and try new things as often as possible. She is looking forward to many more adventures at Ignite!

Roxana Santana

Roxana Santana

Roxana Santana has a passion for inspiring students to reach their full potential. She has taught in a variety of settings that include ABA therapy and preschool. She holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology Administration Studies from the University of California Riverside and is currently finishing her Utah teaching license. With 6 years of teaching experience she has developed her teaching philosophy that emphasizes a student centered approach that encourages critical thinking. Outside of the classroom, Roxana likes to take walks with her husband and 2 kids. She also enjoys watching Disney movies and taking road trips.

Alyson Diepeveen

Alyson Diepeveen

Alyson loves being outside and hiking but loves teaching students even more. She loves advocating for students of all learning abilities. Currently she is attending WGU to complete licenses in General Education and Special Education. She found out that she has specific learning disabilities in 2021. Since then she has used her understanding of her challenges to help students understand themselves and how their disabilities are a special ability that can be a great strength, especially when they have the right tools. Aly has worked with students in special education for 5 years. She is grateful for Ignite and all the amazing opportunities the school provides for both students and teachers.

Koa Nahinu

Koa Nahinu

Koa Nahinu first moved to Utah in 2018. He was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. Some of his passions are art, fashion design, and music. He has been volunteering at Ignite since it’s opening year. He has been a Summer Bridge assistant, sub, and volunteered in several other areas. He is very passionate about building individuality in students and creating a classroom where they feel safe and ready to take on day-to-day challenges. He wants every child to walk away from this year with confidence in themselves and respect for those around them.

Emma Neilsen

Emma Neilsen

Emma Neilsen is a Montessori certified teacher with over 10 years experience. She has dedicated her life to childhood education and believes every child deserves an environment and resources that maximize individual growth. Emma tailors her lessons and support to each child's ability, learning style, and emotional and social well being. Emma received two Masters degrees from Université de Caen and Université Paris IX Dauphine in France, and earned her MBA from University of Maryland. Emma also became a Montessori Certified Teacher in 2019. She designed and implemented two successful dual language immersion pilot programs for Montessori schools, and has worked in both public and private education systems. When she is not working, Emma doubles as a taxi service to get her children to and from their activities and you can find her cheering them on at their gymnastics and swim meets.

Sydney Ericksen

Sydney Ericksen grew up in Texas and moved to Utah three years ago to pursue a degree in elementary education. She has always loved teaching and knew from an early age that she wanted to be a teacher. She has been at Ignite since last year as an upper elementary teaching assistant and is excited for her new journey as a lower elementary teacher. Working in education and helping students achieve their dreams and be the very best they can be is her passion. When Sydney is not working you can find her reading, going up to the canyon, cooking, cutting hair and playing board games.
