Firebirds Athletics

IEA is excited to offer competitive athletics for grades 6–8 through the Utah Charter and Small School Athletic League (UCSSAL) starting this school year! Students can join Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball, or Basketball across the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons — building teamwork, sportsmanship, and school pride along the way. Find game schedules, participation fees, and registration deadlines for each sport below.

SY 2026–2027 Game Schedule

Game dates for each IEA sports season, listed by team below. Playoff weeks are noted at the end of each season.

Athletics will be offered as long as we meet the participation threshold for each sport. If a sport doesn't reach the minimum number of players, that season may be adjusted or cancelled — families will be notified as early as possible.

How to Register

Ready for your student to play? Registration is a two-step process — both steps must be completed before a student can participate.

  1. Pay the participation fee on MySchoolBucks. Visit www.myschoolbucks.com and select the sport your student is joining. See the Fees & Payment section below for pricing by sport.

  2. Complete the Athlete Participation Packet. Fill out and sign the required packet here: Athlete Participation Packet.

Both steps must be complete by the registration deadline for that season. See the Registration Deadlines table below for exact dates by sport.

Meet the Athletic Director

Paul Hazelbarth (Coach Hazel) · Athletic Director · K–8 PE/Health

Paul Hazelbarth, known to students and families as Coach Hazel, serves as Ignite's Athletic Director as the school launches its new athletics program. With more than ten years of experience building athletic programs from the ground up, he has helped lead schools to championship-level success, including serving as a head coach on a state championship team.

Coach Hazel believes great programs are built on culture, relationships, and giving kids a place to belong and thrive, not on wins alone. His goal at Ignite is to build a program that develops character, leadership, teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, giving students a chance to compete, grow, and represent their school with pride, whether they've played for years or are trying a sport for the first time.

Ignite Athletics is growing its offerings in soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Students entering 6th–8th grade with an interest in sports are encouraged to get involved, and parents interested in volunteering as a coach are welcome to reach out.
